Where do I begin???
The past few months have been a whirlwind.
The first week of July we decided to list our house and move. In less than two weeks from when we decided to sell our house, we had our first contract from a couple in the Hill country that had only seen pictures online. Several days later the realtor called to say that the wife had to go into the hospital and the contract was being terminated. A week or so went by, we had several more showings but no offers.
Finally, a young couple sends us a contract! He is a radiologist at a local hospital, they have a little boy and are expecting a second child. The inspection is done, they go on vacation, the 10-day option period lapses and we get excited about closing! During this time, we found a house, packed and moved! Then, another phone call from the realtor that the contract will be terminated - he took a job out of state.
We get the house "show-ready" again and get a call from a realtor who has shown it to a family from Arkansas two or three times since we listed it. The husband wants to meet to discuss the floodplain (a creek backs up to our property). That same evening, the realtor whose client had the first contract with us texted to let me know that the wife bought a plane ticket and was flying in the next day to come see the house! What an emotional roller coaster this has been!
The Arkansas family decided not to make an offer. The Hill Country wife is looking at it as I type. We are waiting for God's perfect plan. And it has not been easy.
In the midst of this, we've been unpacking at the "new" house, adding a bathroom and a closet little by little to the bonus room upstairs that is Dade and Luke's room. Our usual summer school schedule did not happen with keeping the house ready to show and house hunting. We are finally getting back into a routine.
My grandmother had a stroke a month or so ago: she was in the hospital for about a week, transferred to rehab for another couple of weeks and just got moved into an assisted living facility. She is doing well but will not be able to go back to living by herself.
Tommy just wrapped up another duplex job for an investor and is finishing up a couple of custom homes.
