Life.

We finally got our house moved to our land two weekends ago. The water, electricity and septic system were connected during the week and our new floors were installed this past weekend. Dade and Luke were BIG helpers pulling up tack strips with Tommy and installing our floors with the workers. They stayed up until almost 11 o'clock one night helping their Dad (and probably would have stayed longer if I would have let them)! Tommy started moving our belongings in tonight and we hope to start getting settled in over the next few days. Tommy's sister, Susan and her family are in from Florida for their grandparents' 70th wedding anniversary celebration. We are all getting together on Saturday for a party at their assisted living facility then coming back to the Goforths' home for dinner and more family time. We are really looking forward to seeing all of his extended family!

Amid all this excitement, Dade fell off the monkey bars at the park Tuesday night and broke his arm. I was standing right there holding Wyatt when it happened. I knew immediately when he tried to get up that something was broken. Tommy was pulling up to his parents' house at that exact moment; we jumped in the truck and headed to the emergency clinic. Within 30 minutes of walking in the door we had x-rays done, pain meds in and a temporary splint on. Dade was so incredibly brave. He told me that he didn't want to have a broken arm and that he felt funny. He was in a lot of pain but did really well getting looked at by the medical staff. Because the break was at the growth plate between his wrist and arm, we were sent to the trauma room at the main ER to have it pulled back into place. The doctor and nurses were fantastic. The worst part was starting the IV for his sedation but even then he didn't put up much of a fight. He was annoyed by the nasal cannula for his oxygen and wanted the blood pressure cuff off and IV out, but he really understood why all of it had to be done. Tommy and I explained to him that they were going to give him medicine to help him sleep while the doctor pulled his arm back into alignment. He wanted to know what color the medicine was and when we could take the tube out of his arm! Tommy and I stood outside the door while the doctor was working; when he finished he came to talk with us and let us know that he was not confident that it was as straight as it needed to be. The post-reduction x-rays were perfect! They splinted his arm again and we were headed home a little after midnight. Dade couldn't believe that he had "stayed up" until "tomorrow." He is doing really well and has not had much pain. He sees the ortho doctor tomorrow and should get a cast (he is already thinking about what color he wants so his cousins can sign it this weekend). We took family pictures that we had scheduled for Wednesday afternoon -- they will definitely hold a lot of memories for us! He was nervous Wednesday morning about everyone seeing him and was a little sad about not being able to ride his bike or climb for a while but I keep reminding him that it is only temporary and he'll be back to 100% soon. We are in between insurances since Tommy started his new job but we found out today that COBRA is retroactive so ALL of it will be COVERED! What a blessing!

I will do my best to get some pictures posted soon!

Four.

A little about Wyatt at four months...

He usually only cries when he is hungry or tired. He loves to "run" already; when he's in the bouncy seat, his legs don't stop moving. He has started chewing on his fingers, my hand, his Sophie Giraffe, blankets, whatever he can get to. He LOVES for people to talk to him and he lets you know by smiling from head to toe. The big kids are still crazy about him -- you would think we had just brought him home by the way they get in his face and love on him. He would rather be propped up on the couch than to play on his stomach (maybe he'll skip crawling and go straight to walking...) and prefers to be held facing out so he can see everything that's going on (this position also keeps me from getting covered with spit up). He is pure joy!

Jewelry.

My high school friend, Stacy is making jewelry and has a shop on Etsy. A pair of her earrings were featured on The Pioneer Woman's website yesterday!
