Watch Me Grow!

How can it be that our little Audrey Caroline is already one?! She is such a joy. Some things about her at one:
--says Dada, Mama, bye-bye and hi; also sounds like she is trying to say Dade ("day")
--signs "more" and "milk"
--walks! pushes herself to standing using just her legs, turns around to walk the other way without holding onto anything
--gives hugs; sometimes when I pick her up she will give me a hug and pat my back... I LOVE it!
--has the cutest laugh
--managed to get through her first year without an ear infection
--still uses her paci when she is tired
--eats just about anything you give her but loves grapes and her oatmeal/banana baby cookies
--loves to take baths
--is more like Dade in her sleep habits in that she would prefer not to... she usually takes one 1 - 1.5 hr nap a day
--has the CUTEST wave! she moves wrist in a circle or up and down
--swings her arms front to back when she is standing still
--can open cabinets and knows which ones have the tupperware and the arts & crafts
--loves to take objects out of a container and put them back in
--is not yet attached to a blanket or other object
--likes to carry a towel, sock or wet wipe with her while walking
--chooses to play with real items around the house or the boys' toys rather than her baby toys

Happy First Birthday, Audrey!

Her first duck.

Will someone please get this girl some toys of her own?!

Photo Friday (on Saturday).

For some reason I am not able to move pictures around anymore... it is very frustrating. So in no particular order... recent Audrey pictures.

She is drinking more (cow's) milk; she likes it warm.
It has become increasingly difficult to take her picture. She is always on the go.
Tooth number two is on it's way in.
Her new pastime -- climbing on top of the puzzle box. Here she is on the box trying to climb onto the windowsill.

She even knows how to climb down.
Living on the edge -- she managed to keep from falling off. Our little gymnast in the making. Her eyes seem to be a little different color everyday.

Our Weekend.

*I haven't been able to move pictures around so please pardon the order!
We were busy around the house this weekend. The boys went to the garden center to buy plants while A and I steam-cleaned the carpet in the van. D&L found a frog, helped pull weeds, shoveled mulch and watered our plants (we should have green onions ready to harvest soon... Luke keeps asking if our "lunch" is ready yet!). Dade and Luke were putting up clothes in their room. When I went to check their progress, Dade had made both of their beds without being asked! Once Luke realized that Dade was going to earn extra money for doing a chore on his own, he decided he would pick up toys in the living room. Days like this are few and far between at this point so I had to document it.

Luke's bed. Dade's bed. I've already got Audrey cleaning!
D&L

Tonight at dinner --
Dade: "What is gold?"
Tommy: "Gold is a rock."
Luke: (very sure of his response) "A rock with chocolate in it."

Dade: (holding up a steak bone) "What was this when it was alive?" (We get this question a lot at dinnertime).
Tommy: "It was a cow." They talked for a minute about maybe having cattle one day. As a side note, sometimes Dade will pray that we can "get pasture" one day.
Luke: "A cow tail." Where does he come up with this?!
YES... Audrey is WALKING! She hardly crawls at all anymore. As of last Wednesday, she can push herself up instead of pulling up on something. She has also gotten brave and decided to start carrying items around (a basket, a basketball...).

Just like Dade.

I was nursing Audrey this morning when Dade came in her room to tell me he was starving. I told him to turn on the t.v. and I would be done soon to get him some breakfast. When I got to the kitchen, he had taken matters into his own hands. He fixed his own sandwich with a hot dog bun (we only had the heels left from the loaf of bread), PB & syrup (we are out of honey). I guess the first thing he found to put his concoction in/on was his sandwich keeper that I put in his lunch bag. He never got around to eating it; he decided he would rather me make him a breakfast quesadilla -- which he ate TWO of!

Photo Shoot.

Audrey and I got to spend some time together waiting for Tommy to meet us for dinner last week. We were in JCPenney getting some facial product samples at Sephora when a lady asked if she could use A as their subject for training a new photographer. Here are the pictures from her session -- they were also working with their photo software so there are some "interesting" effects and collages.

Birthday Visit.

The boys rode back to East Texas with Big Daddy last Wednesday. Audrey and I drove up on Friday; I can hardly even remember back to the time when I had one lone infant in the car with me! Audrey got so excited when she saw Dade... it even sounded like she said "Day" when she leaned down to greet him. Sunday we had an early family FIRST birthday party for Audrey. LOTS of family and food! She waited for me to give her a bite of her cake before deciding to dig in. And of course she was showered with wonderful gifts. Monday we went to visit with my grandmother, Mimi. Tuesday we spent time with Tommy's grandparents, Mamaw and Papaw and with Nana and Papa. After lunch at Pizza King on Wednesday the kids and I headed south. Dade and Luke had the best time playing with their cousins, riding the Power Wheel 4-wheeler and the Ranger, playing games, and being boys in the country but they were definitely ready to get back home to their Dad.

"I get to eat this?!"A little help with the first bite.
The boys passed out after the party -- Dade

Luke

Audrey and Mimi. The boys always jump on this exercise trampoline at Mimi's house. Audrey got brave and stood up on it. The boys like to be dropped off at the top of the hill so they can walk to Gran & Big Daddy's house through the pasture. Luke on left & Dade. A quick picture with Gran before going home.
